Some title tag work today for an electronic device client. They had a lot of duplicate title tags on their site and this is not ideal.
What this means is that they have the same keyword or phrase in the title tag of MANY pages. This will force the search engines to choose which one is best and this might not actually be the BEST one for you in terms of product SEO and visibility.
So if you have a product called a ‘red widget’ then optimise 1 page (ideally) for ‘red widget’ and create a title meta tag like ‘Red Widget Solves All Your Widgeting Problems Forever.’ Whatever you do, don’t have multiple pages on your site that use the same keyword/phrase. For these pages you could use a different product or application – do you have a light red widget or a dark red widget, for example!
Remember, the title tag is a decent content indicator for google and the other search engines so make it is easy for them to find the most relevant pages to match the product or application keywords.or phrases you are using. The h1 tag will also give the search engines an idea of what your page is about so you might want to try adding the keyphrase (or a subtle variation of it) in the header tag as well. We’ll talk about other tags in future day diary posts.
